Bradstow is a creative and unique residential school for children between the ages of 5 & 19. It is situated in 13 acres of parkland just a few hundred metres from the sandy beaches of Broadstairs. We seek to meet the needs of children and young people with autism and severe learning difficulties with associated behaviours that may be challenging. We have achieved national recognition for our developments in Communication and Behaviour Management.

Lead Speech & Language Therapist |
£40,105 - £46,265 per annum Permanent position 37.5 hours per week, all year round Bradstow School are looking for a Lead Speech and Language Therapist. In this role you will lead and line manage a specialist Communication Team (Including the Learning Resources Centre) to support children and young adults with complex needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Severe Learning Disabilities and associated challenging behaviours. This will be carried out in close collaboration with all contact staff and teams, to develop the students’ overall communication and language skills with a focus on functional skills in everyday life. You will be required to take the lead on all communication and language issues at Bradstow, acting as the point of reference for educational and residential staff teams at all levels. You will also be responsible for providing support, guidance and professional development to child contact staff and families on developing functional communication skills. Keyworker - 41 Weeks |
£26,227 to £29,280 per annum Permanent position 41 hours per week, 41 weeks per year As part of the 41 weeks, the post holder will be required to commit to two weeks Short Term break care work during school holidays. Working as part of the childcare team, this role involves providing care and support to students mornings, evenings and weekends, being a student’s Keyworker and some management responsibility. You will need to be able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role to be considered for this post. The hours for this post include split shifts during the week, weekend starts from 7.30am on the early shift and finishes at 10.00pm on the late shift. For this post you will need to be willing to commit to achieving Residential Childcare QCF Level 3 within 2 years of beginning employment at the school. Residential Support Worker |
£24,787 - £26,654 per annum Permanent position 41 hours per week, All Year Round. Bradstow School is looking for dedicated people to start their career in Social Care. Our Residential Support Worker position does not require any previous experience and you will be trained by our in-house trainers in a nationally recognised NVQ level 3 award. This position will provide you with all the experience you need to develop. We pride ourselves on developing staff to become Keyworkers with the opportunity to progress to management positions as well. The purpose of this role is to provide support to the residential home where young people reside during out-of-school hours. The post holder will support young people’s learning and personal development in the home and advocate for their needs in their schooling, healthcare, relationships, and social life. Duties involve working with all young people in the residential home. The hours for this post include early and late shifts, split shifts, and weekend shifts. No formal qualifications or experience are necessary for this post, but the member of staff will be required to commit to achieving the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 2 years of beginning employment at the school. Residential Learning Support Assistant - 41 Weeks |
£24,067 (Actual 41 Week Salary) per annum Permanent position 41 hours per week, 41 weeks per year. As part of the 41 weeks, the post holder will be required to commit to two weeks Short Term break care work during school holidays. The purpose of this role is to provide support to the residential unit where a named student, who has been identified as requiring additional support, resides during out-of-school hours. Weekend Care Worker – 41 weeks |
£24,383 to £25,288 pro rata per annum Part time, Permanent position Flexible, 7 - 28 hours per week, 41 weeks per year As part of the 41 weeks, the post holder will be required to commit to two weeks Short Term break care work during school holidays. The Weekend Worker will welcome warmly and connect kindly with all children and young people at Bradstow. They will work as a part of a team of care givers supporting a group of young people within a home at the weekends. Whilst nurturing a Culture of Gentleness, Weekend Workers will take an assisting role, as a committed parent or carer would, in supporting the team young people’s ongoing learning and personal development in the home and advocating for their needs in their schooling, healthcare, relationships and social life. The post will cover term time support. In addition, the Post holder will be required to commit to an additional two weeks’ worth of hours respite care work, during Easter or Summer holidays. For this post you will need to be willing to commit to achieving the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 2 years of beginning employment at the school. Occupational Therapist Apprenticeship |
1st Year £21,730 rising to £26,282 by the end of the apprenticeship 4 year Apprenticeship 37.5 hours per week, 41 weeks per year Bradstow is a creative and unique residential school for children between the ages of 5 & 19. We seek to meet the needs of children and young people with autism and severe learning difficulties with associated behaviours that may be challenging using a Gentle Teach approach and engaging in reflective practice. We have achieved national recognition for our developments in Communication and Behaviour Management as well as having been awarded the Platinum standard for the Investors in People accreditation. We are looking for an Occupational Therapist Apprentice. The post holder will work towards progression to become an Occupational Therapist through successful completion of the Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship. You will work collaboratively with the Therapy team, education and care staff to enhance the integrated and holistic support planning and learning for the young people. Duties of this role include (but are not limited to): Carrying out work based learning in the department under the supervision of the Occupational Therapists; assisting the Occupational Therapists in managing a complex caseload; assisting with the implementation of intervention plans and programmes with individual or small groups of young people; ensuring the environment and approaches of staff reflect the individual and sensory needs of the young people. Please note that the successful candidate will be required to be off site for face to face training at Canterbury Christchurch University, and will be required to travel for placements in another location. Individual Learning Support Assistant - 41 Weeks |
£20,422 (Actual 41 Week Salary Including SEN Allowance) per annum Permanent position 37.5 hours per week, 08:30 – 16:30 Monday – Friday, 41 weeks per year As part of the 41 weeks, the post holder will be required to commit to two weeks Short Term break care work during school holidays. The aim of this post is to provide support to a named student and their classroom group during school hours. The duties will not be confined solely to the named student but also involve working with other students in the class. You will be required to take on responsibility for a variety of everyday tasks as directed by teaching staff. With guidance from teaching staff you will work as part of the class team to implement all aspects of the students’ educational programme and will play an important role in safeguarding the students’ health and safety. Morning Care Worker - 41 Weeks |
£8,184 - £8,800 (Actual 41 Week Salary) per annum Part time, Permanent position 15 hours per week, 41 weeks per year As part of the 41 weeks, the post holder will be required to commit to two weeks Short Term break care work during school holidays. Working as part of the childcare team, this role will cover term time support and specified inset days. The Morning Care Workers will take an assisting role, as a committed parent or carer would, in supporting the young people’s ongoing learning and personal development in the home and advocating for their needs in their schooling healthcare, relationships and social life. The Morning Care Workers will work as part of a team of caregivers supporting a group of young people within a home with morning routines and preparation for School between 07:30am – 10:30am Monday – Friday (2 shifts per week can be extended by half an hour where 16 hours is desired.) For this post you will need to be willing to commit to achieving the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 2 years of beginning employment at the school. Interviews will be held regularly.
