Bradstow is a creative and unique residential school for children between the ages of 5 & 19. It is situated in 13 acres of parkland just a few hundred metres from the sandy beaches of Broadstairs. We seek to meet the needs of children and young people with autism and severe learning difficulties with associated behaviours that may be challenging. We have achieved national recognition for our developments in Communication and Behaviour Management.

Registered Manager - 52Weeks / All Year Round

£52,409 - £55,713 per annum including Children’s Home & Registered Manager Allowances

Permanent position

41 hours per week. All year round.

Duties include:

  • To be the OFSTED Registered Manager to deliver services which are fully compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements in relation to The Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards 2015.
  • To be responsible for the effective development and delivery of high quality residential services to the young people and their families.
  • Lead and manage a team, ensuring that team members work effectively with young people, families, and all internal and partner agencies.
  • To be responsible for the day to day operation and management of an OFSTED regulated Children’s Home.
  • To ensure the highest standards of emotional, social and physical care, promoting the best outcomes for young people through research, development and partnership to formulate and monitor placement & care planning.
  • To take overall responsibility for all regulatory requirements associated with Ofsted

registration and the home’s Statement of Purpose.

The role will involve some out of hours on-call working and sleep-ins, both of which are included in the salary for the role.

For this post you will need to be willing to commit to obtaining the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (if not already obtained).

Registered Manager : Job Description

School Nurse

Therapy Band 6 – 7 DOE

Permanent position. 37.5 hours per week, 41 weeks per year

Duties include:

  • Guidance and support on managing a young person’s care including aspects of medication and health, auditing, preparation of MARS sheets, administration of medication.
  • Provide first aid and emergency care and treatment as necessary
  • To oversee/supervise or appropriately allocate the Health Care Planning for Young People and co-ordinate medical appointments and assessments for individual Young People.
  • Responsible for the efficient running of the service, ensuring effective and efficient systems and processes are in place

As part of the 41 weeks, the post holder will be required to commit to two weeks Short Term break care work during school holidays.

School Nurse : Job Description

Occupational Therapist

Therapy Band 5 – 7 DOE

Permanent position

37.5 hours per week, All year round

We are seeking an individual to undertake the role of Occupational Therapist. You will work collaboratively with the Education and Care support staff to enhance the integrated and holistic support planning and learning for the young people at the school. There will be a special focus on sensory integration within this post.

Duties of this role include (but are not limited to): Conducting assessments, developing individual programs, liaising with parents and carers, liaising with external agencies and ensuring the individual needs of our young people are met.

Occupational Therapist : Job Description

Lead Speech & Language Therapist

Therapy Band 7

Permanent position

37.5 hours per week, all year round

Bradstow School are looking for a Lead Speech and Language Therapist. In this role you will lead and line manage a specialist Communication Team (Including the Learning Resources Centre) to support children and young adults with complex needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Severe Learning Disabilities and associated challenging behaviours. This will be carried out in close collaboration with all contact staff and teams, to develop the students’ overall communication and language skills with a focus on functional skills in everyday life.

You will be required to take the lead on all communication and language issues at Bradstow, acting as the point of reference for educational and residential staff teams at all levels. You will also be responsible for providing support, guidance and professional development to child contact staff and families on developing functional communication skills.

As part of the 41 weeks, the post holder will be required to commit to two weeks Short Term break care work during school holidays.

Working as part of the childcare team, this role involves providing care and support to students mornings, evenings and weekends, being a student’s Keyworker and some management responsibility. You will need to be able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role to be considered for this post.

The hours for this post include split shifts during the week, weekend starts from 7.30am on the early shift and finishes at 10.00pm on the late shift.

For this post you will need to be willing to commit to achieving Residential Childcare QCF Level 3 within 2 years of beginning employment at the school.

Bradstow School is looking for dedicated people to start their career in Social Care. Our Residential Support Worker position does not require any previous experience and you will be trained by our in-house trainers in a nationally recognised NVQ level 3 award. This position will provide you with all the experience you need to develop. We pride ourselves on developing staff to become Keyworkers with the opportunity to progress to management positions as well.

The purpose of this role is to provide support to the residential home where young people reside during out-of-school hours. The post holder will support young people’s learning and personal development in the home and advocate for their needs in their schooling, healthcare, relationships, and social life. Duties involve working with all young people in the residential home.

The hours for this post include early and late shifts, split shifts, and weekend shifts.

Individual Learning Support Assistant - 41 Weeks

37.5 hours per week, 08:30 – 16:30 Monday – Friday, 41 weeks per year

As part of the 41 weeks, the post holder will be required to commit to two weeks Short Term break care work during school holidays.

The aim of this post is to provide support to a named student and their classroom group during school hours. The duties will not be confined solely to the named student but also involve working with other students in the class. You will be required to take on responsibility for a variety of everyday tasks as directed by teaching staff.

With guidance from teaching staff you will work as part of the class team to implement all aspects of the students’ educational programme and will play an important role in safeguarding the students’ health and safety.

Individual Learning Support Assistant 41Weeks : Job Description

IT Apprentice

We have a new opportunity for someone looking to start their IT career. Working within a large school and children’s home our IT team require support with a wide range of tasks. If successful, you will be embedded in a supportive team who want to help you succeed. 

The post holder will be required to undertake the Level 3 Information Communication Technician Apprenticeship whilst supporting the IT team. The post holder will assist in providing first line End User Support, take responsibility for installation and configuration of computer systems, and ‘building’ school computers by installing relevant software.
