Visit to Canterbury Cathedral

This term some of our young people have been learning more about beliefs, creativity, reflection and religion during SMSC group work sessions. As part of our learning around this topic we had a cultural visit to Canterbury Cathedral followed by lunch at a multi-cultural restaurant.

Canterbury Cathedral

Young people and staff were all moved and highly engaged by the atmosphere and sensory experiences offered to us at the Cathedral and everyone very much enjoyed their lunch at Chom Chom’s. We tried sushi, fresh Chinese stir fry, Thai and Indian curries as well as some American / English favourites and more!.

chomchom.jpgThe Cathedral offered a wonderful experience including smelling herbs the monks might have grown for medicine years ago, feeling the stone pillars, tasting communion wafer and blackcurrant juice, listening to organ music and a live choir as well as admiring the stained glass windows and colouring in our own, having a go at quill writing, discovering how the Cathedral was built with a pulley system and much more.

It was a wonderful experience which we hope to make available to more Bradstow students in the future.
