Bradstow School calls out for votes to bag a share of Tesco’s bag fund

Bradstow School is bidding to bag a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to local community projects. Bags of Help offers community groups and projects across the UK a share of revenue generated from the 5p charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store during March and April on who should receive the £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awards.

Bradstow School is one of the groups on the shortlist, with their project:
Poppy Proms in the Park to Commemorate WW1 – A community event to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1.

The event will take place in the Memorial Ground, Broadstairs, with 2 days of living history exhibits plus a proms style concert with local choirs, orchestras, and performers telling of life on the home front as well as the battlefield. There will be professionals and amateurs, mainstream and special needs, all working together in an inclusive atmosphere.
Voting is open in all Tesco stores throughout March and April, and customers can vote for Bradstow School’s Poppy Proms at the Broadstairs Extra and Broadstairs Metro stores. Customers will cast their vote using a token they can ask for at the checkout in store each time they shop.
