List of zones and brief description of activities

1. Farm/whittling

A model farm will be set up to show a variety of crops/vegetables and fruit that would have been grown in Roman times.

Spoon whittling will be demonstrated.

2. Food/drink

Bread kilns will have been constructed and some students will get a chance to make their own pizza. There will be the opportunity to press grapes.

3. Mosaics

A mosaic expert will help the students make mosaic patterns.

4. Pottery

Learn how to make a pot and see the Romano kiln that has been constructed and will fire the pots at a later date.

5. Dig and discover

The Trust for Thanet Archaeology will be helping students to dig and discover real Roman artefacts.

6. Building

Learn how a former was used to construct arches, have a go at building one. Have a look at how toilets were constructed.

7. Clothing

Learn how to put on a toga and use your pre made clasp to fasten-then have a photo taken with your class.

8. Centurion training

Look at how a Roman Centurion would dress and then learn how to use your pre- made shield to work as a group and learn how to form a tortoise.

9. Entertainment

Listen to the tales from long ago and work with a Roman mime artist.
